$0 Call-Out Fees, Any Day
Every job in The Gap comes with $0 call-out fees, and there's no extra charge for nights, weekends or public holidays.
Every metre of supply line between the street meter and your taps falls under water pipe repair in The Gap, and a licensed plumber does all of it. We're available 24/7, and there's no extra charge for nights, weekends or public holidays. The suburb's housing runs from 1940s weatherboard through to 2000s brick, with the 1960s and 1970s family-home belt holding most of the original copper.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill

The Gap sits in a granite valley, and that ground never sits still for long. This page maps the faults, the rules and the ones that cannot wait.

Supply lines develop leaking joints, corroded pipe that splits, bursts, failed braided hoses under sinks, and hidden leaks underground or inside walls. Each fault has its own page, and each one starts with the same copper run laid when the street was built.
The usual causes are wear and corrosion, high water pressure, and ground or root movement. All three bite hard here. Houses climb granite and phyllite slopes, and hillside ground shifts around buried lines season after season until an old joint weeps.
Bush-edge blocks along Mount Nebo Road, backing onto the D'Aguilar country behind Walkabout Creek, add root pressure to the mix. Age matters too. Lead-based solder on brass fittings and copper pipe was common across Australia until 1989, so the 1960s and 1970s belt carries pipework worth watching rather than assuming.
The faults, and where each one lands:
a weeping fitting or a pinholed copper run, usually repairable on the spot.
pressure or corrosion letting go at once, covered on our burst pipe repairs page.
the braided line under a sink or basin often fails before the pipe does, so check them when we're on site.
a concealed leak can sit under a driveway or inside a wall, wasting thousands of litres a day before a big bill gives it away. Our leak detection page explains how we trace them.
supply work doesn't stop at the mains, and rainwater tank plumbing and water tank pumps each have a page of detail.

Regulated plumbing work, water pipe repairs included, must be done by a QBCC licensed plumber. That rule covers all three categories of regulated work: permit work, notifiable work and minor work.
Two licences are involved. A tradesperson needs an occupational licence to do the work, and a contractor licence to take jobs on as a business. The QBCC issues both.
You can verify both yourself. The QBCC's online registers show whether a plumber holds a current licence, and whether a Form 4 has been lodged for your property after notifiable work. It takes a name and a couple of minutes, and it's worth doing before anyone touches your pipes.

The split runs at the meter. The pipe from the water main to the meter, and the meter itself, belong to the water utility, which in this suburb is Urban Utilities. Every pipe and fitting from the meter onto the property is the owner's, and that includes a leak you can't see.
The meter box sits flush with the ground, on the council strip between the road and your front boundary. That's the point where responsibility changes hands.
The owner's stretch is longer than most people expect. On the sloping blocks along the valley walls, the line can run a long way from that strip up to the house, often through ground that granite grit makes slow to trench. The Plumbing and Drainage Act puts a duty on owners to keep their side sound and working, and using a licensed plumber is the straightforward way to meet it.

The urgent signs are water you cannot stop, a burst water service and a serious supply leak. A burst water service and a serious leak are classed as emergency repairs under Queensland tenancy law, which tells you how the trade treats them.
Slow drips and weeping fittings are different. A damp patch at a joint or a fitting that leaves a ring on the cupboard floor can wait for a booked visit, and waiting costs you nothing in urgency.
If water is pouring, turn the supply off at the meter first, then ring (07) 3524 7137. Our emergency plumber page runs through the full triage.

Call (07) 3524 7137 or send a quick message about the job in The Gap, and we'll ask what we need to know.

We follow your supply line from the meter and check the pressure and the visible fittings. From there we open up only what's needed to reach the damaged section, under a floor, a driveway or the hillside itself.

Every job is done by a licensed plumber under QBCC No: 15024607. We're licensed and insured, locally owned and operated, and proud MPAQ members.
No, you cannot. Queensland classes repairing a broken or damaged pipe as minor work, which a licensed plumber must do. Only a short list of very small jobs is unregulated, and pipe work is not on it.
No, no council permit is needed. Replacing the supply piping to an existing house is notifiable work, so your plumber lodges a Form 4 with the QBCC and you receive a copy for your records.
Water you cannot shut off, a burst water service or a serious supply leak are the emergencies. Queensland's rental emergency list includes those last two. A slow drip at a fitting can wait for a booked visit.
The repair time depends on the access, the length of line, the pipe material and the parts needed. A short exposed run is quicker than a line under a slab or a hillside trench. You see a fixed quote before any work starts.
Four things drive the price: how hard the damaged section is to reach, how much line is involved, what the pipe is made of, and whether we patch or replace. The fixed quote sets it out before work begins.
Urban Utilities does. The main and the meter belong to the utility, so you report a leak on that stretch to them. Everything from the meter onto your property is yours to maintain.
